FAIRWAYZ GOLF SOCIETY

On Thursday 20th March and Friday 21st March we had our annual 2-day golf trip and one night stop-over in Benidorm.

The format for both days was individual Stableford, with prize money for 1st, 2nd, best front 9, best back 9 and nearest the pin, also prize money for overall total scores after the two days of play for 1st and 2nd. On the way out we played at Bonalba Golf, no outstanding moments that I know of and at the end of the day the scores were only separated by a few points, so the overall competition was still open for anyone to win.

However, we had to endure the night stop-over in Benidorm, which would usually have an effect on the 2nd day scoring, and it did! The problems start, when you go out with the intention of only having a few beers before returning to the hotel and getting a good nights sleep ready for the next days golf, but of course you get carried along with the banter and moving from one bar to another to watch the "turns", and before you know it, it's past the 10:30 bedtime you promised yourself.
So yes the scores suffered, badly in fact!

So, after a fragile second day of golf the winners scores for both days and the overall winners were as follows:-
Day 1.
1st Graham Butterworth - 33pts.
2nd Dave Stewart - 31pts.
Best front 9 - Lee George 16pts.
Best back 9 - Graham Philip - 16pts on c/b.
Nearest the pin - John Pedersen.
Day 2.
1st Peter Jones - 25pts c/b.
2nd Lee George - 25pts.
Best front 9 - Dave Stewart - 15pts.
Best back 9 - Tony McMillan - 13pts c/b.
Nearesty the pin - Steve Hamilton.
Overall.
1st Dave Stewart - 56pts. Prize money and "The Fred Rich Cup".
2nd equal with 54pts each - Graham Philip and Lee George.
Our thanks go to Tony Mac and Steve Hamilton for organising the trip.
Our next game is Thursday 27th March at Vistabella, 9:30 1st tee off. Please arrive 1 hour prior to 1st tee time.
